An X-ray view of the essential components of a senior nutrition program, highlighting the life-sustaining purpose of providing meals and support services.Pullman Today
Pullman Regional Hospital will take over coordination of the Whitman County Senior Nutrition Program, a move aimed at maintaining and expanding access to meals and support services for older adults and those with mobility challenges. The program provides congregate meals, home-delivered meals, and other nutrition services through a partnership with Aging and Long Term Care of Eastern Washington.
Why it matters
The transition follows the discontinuation of services by the Whitman County Council on Aging in late 2025, leaving a gap in critical nutrition and social support for the region’s senior population. Pullman Regional’s oversight aims to stabilize existing services while building for future growth.
The details
Under the new structure, the program will operate within Pullman Regional’s Integrated Care Services and will be led by the hospital’s director of integrated care services. Pullman Regional plans to hire a program coordinator and a cook, and is also seeking volunteers to support operations. Current meal sites are located in Pullman, Colfax, Colton/Uniontown and Palouse, with home-delivered meals available in Pullman and Colfax.
