With Elemental 5 changing locations, its former neighbor, Heart of the Rockies Anytime Fitness, will be expanding to gain approximately 2,200 square feet.
Owned by Daniel “Sach” Sachtleben and Roxanne Sachtleben, Anytime Fitness opened the location at 9985D U.S. 50 in Poncha Springs in 2019, but it shut down four months later when the COVID-19 pandemic hit.
“But we’ve been able to rebuild,” Roxanne said, and despite being told a gym wouldn’t work due to locals exercising outside, they were able to acquire and put together a high-ceilinged multisectioned gym, with what they deem “top-of-the-line, commercial-grade, signature series” equipment.
While there is certainly a market in the area for “outdoorsy” people, “we knew from the get-go we would be working with people of all levels, all terms of interest and all ages,” Daniel said. “We always tried to stay in front of what was needed in this market.”
Since Anytime Fitness is a franchise, corporate requires remodeling and rebranding regardless, Roxanne said, and this opportunity to expand came at the perfect time. Their new color palette will be purple and gray.
With the new expansion, their strength training area will more than double in size, as will their functional training area, in which customers can get training in areas that will help them to move better. Both of these areas have been gaining popularity, Daniel said.
Roxanne added that one major consideration with the expansion was their growing customer base. “This was such a hard decision because sometimes we are so empty … but our busy hours are so busy.”
Their oldest member is 95, she said. “He says he trains with us to just live his best life possible.”
Through the Anytime Fitness app, it is possible to see when the gym is busy or not, Daniel added.
The front office will stay in place, but a large section of wall separating the two storefronts will be removed, and the office will be remodeled to more of a half-fish-tank style, they said. There will be a fourth bathroom as part of the expansion, an office for the trainer and a large screen in the new space to assist with their training program.
Some of their new equipment will include a stair climber and a new squat rack, among others, “but we don’t want to give everything away,” Daniel said.
