Tulsa nonprofit expands access to trauma-informed wellness

TULSA, Okla. –

A Tulsa-based nonprofit is working to make wellness more accessible for communities often left out of traditional health and mindfulness spaces.

Founded in 2015, the Humble Warrior Collective provides trauma-informed movement and mindfulness programs to marginalized and underserved populations across the region. Through partnerships with schools, recovery and treatment centers, domestic violence and human trafficking shelters, veterans groups, and even carceral spaces, the organization aims to break down barriers to well-being.

Executive Director Kendra Guthrie said the organization focuses on creating safe, supportive environments where individuals can explore self-care practices that promote healing and resilience.

Specially trained instructors lead classes that incorporate breathwork, meditation, gentle yoga, and other forms of movement. These sessions are designed to help participants build self-regulation, self-awareness, and a sense of connection.

“Wellbeing is a lifelong practice,” Guthrie said. “We want to create spaces where people feel supported in their journey and empowered to grow with compassion.”

When is the next Humble Warrior Collective Bloom event?

The nonprofit’s work extends beyond direct services. Humble Warrior Collective also offers seasonal public classes in partnership with local organizations, including sessions at Woodward Park with the Tulsa Garden Center and sound baths and classes at the Tulsa Botanic Garden.

How can I support the Humble Warrior Collective?

To support its programs, the organization is hosting its annual Bloom event on May 2 at the Tulsa Botanic Garden. The evening will feature a two-part garden party experience.

The event begins with a cocktail hour from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m., where guests can enjoy signature drinks, live music from the Molly Devine Trio, and view LEGO sculptures by artist Sean Kenney. The main event runs from 7 to 9:30 p.m. and includes dinner, a dance party with DJ Majda, and a celebration honoring Dr. Keith Hall as the 2026 Humble Warrior Award recipient for his lifetime of service.

Proceeds from the event will support the organization’s ongoing programming and outreach efforts.

Community members can support Humble Warrior Collective by attending the Bloom event, participating in classes, volunteering, joining the board, or making a donation. Organizers say tickets are nearly sold out.

As the organization continues to grow, its mission remains focused on one goal: creating a more equitable and compassionate approach to well-being for all.
