Livingston Parish students shine at state elementary fitness meet

Staff Report

Four Livingston Parish elementary students traveled to Alexandria on Saturday to compete at the Louisiana Championship Fitness Meet, and they came home with plenty to celebrate.

Liam Breaux, Kennedy Davis, Mila Thomasson, and Madden Romero made up this year’s Livingston Parish Fitness Team, earning their spots at the state level by finishing in the top two of their respective divisions at a parish-wide preliminary meet in early March.

The April 18 competition tested athletes across seven events: the 50-yard dash, shuttle run, pull-ups, standing long jump, curl-ups, 600-yard run, and sit and reach.

Breaux, a student at French Settlement Elementary, was the standout performer of the day, finishing 2nd overall in the boys division. He also claimed 1st place in pull-ups and 2nd in curl-ups.

His French Settlement classmate Thomasson made her presence felt in the girls division, finishing 3rd in both pull-ups and curl-ups. North Corbin Elementary’s Davis complemented her with a 1st place finish in the sit and reach and a 3rd place tie in curl-ups alongside Thomasson. Romero, also from French Settlement, rounded out the team’s hardware with a 3rd place finish in curl-ups for the boys.

As a team, Livingston Parish finished 6th overall at the state meet.
