TRUCKEE, Calif. — Radical Recovery, in partnership with Nevada Urban Indians (NUI) and Crow’s Nest Ranch, announced the launch of the 2026 Youth Summer Wellness Program. This no-cost initiative is specifically designed to provide high-impact wellness opportunities to Indigenous, Latinx, and low-income youth ages 14–17 residing in the Tahoe Basin.
In a region world-famous for its outdoor “playground,” many local youth remain on the sidelines due to systemic barriers and prohibitive costs. The “Mountain Movement” curriculum aims to reclaim these spaces, utilizing the Sierra Nevada landscape as a primary tool for healing. The program integrates professional clinical oversight with high-value physical activities including equine connection, yoga, martial arts, and alpine exploration.
The program will run every Tuesday and Thursday throughout July 2026. Participants will engage in horseback riding at Piping Rock Ranch, mental and physical conditioning through Muay Thai and yoga, and kayaking on Lake Tahoe. Each session concludes with clinician-led talking circles to foster peer support and healthy coping mechanisms.
A Collaborative Ecosystem: This program is supported by the cultural expertise and opioid prevention mission of Nevada Urban Indians (NUI) and the clinical excellence of Crow’s Nest Ranch, creating a multi-layered safety net for Truckee’s underserved populations.
Space is strictly limited to 15 participants to ensure personalized, trauma-informed care.
