Last night, all eyes were on the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City, where the 2026 edition of much-loved Met Gala took place. This year’s theme, “Costume Art”, gave guests a free hand in creativity and allowed them to go all-out with their red carpet looks. But where’s the fun in a gorgeous ensemble without the right glam? In true Hollywood style, this year’s guest list accentuated each carefully planned couture look with stunning beauty and hair.
Met Gala 2026: The best make-up moments
Perhaps one of the most popular make-up trends at this year’s Met Gala was the smoky eye, with everyone from Anne Hathaway to Isha Ambani going for intense peepers. Doja Cat drew attention to her eyes with razor sharp wings, while Kylie Jenner omitted her brows for the occasion and Tyla added a pop of colour to stand out.
Beyond the eyes, facial jewels were a big hit among this year’s best dressed. Both Rihanna and Blackpink’s Lisa accentuated their eyes with rhinestones, while Sabrina Carpenter opted for a headpiece that dripped jewels down her forehead.
Met Gala 2026: The most extravagant hairstyles
After 10 years away, Beyoncé made her big comeback to the Met Gala this year dressed like a sparkling skeleton, complete with head armour and sculpted golden waves. While she chose to leave her locks down like Nicole Kidman, many others opted for elaborate updos. Ciara sauntered into the venue sporting a sky-high sculpted do in gold as she paid homage to Egyptian queen Nefertiti, Naomi Watts styled hers with a bouquet of blooms, Gabrielle Union turned buns into a statement piece with her larger than life arrangement, and co-chair Venus Williams topped her bun with braided rosettes.
Below, take a closer look at all the standout beauty moments from the 2026 Met Gala.
