Seoul will once again convert Seoul Plaza into an open-air exercise venue this spring with the return of “Workout Seoul Plaza,” a free weekly evening fitness program launching May 7.
Running every Thursday evening through October, the program is designed to turn the city-center square into a casual after-work sports zone where residents can join guided workouts, fitness challenges, and one-on-one health consultations.
This year’s expanded lineup will feature three main sections.
The first is the group exercise stage, where participants can join large outdoor sessions including zumba dance, step box, jumping step, and the newly added line dance, chosen for its simple choreography and beginner-friendly movements.
A second section, called the Fitness King Challenge, will allow visitors to test and record their physical performance through activities such as pull-ups, deadlifts, grip strength, flexibility, and reaction drills.
The third area is a personalized fitness clinic where trainers, posture specialists, and physical therapists will offer one-on-one consultations, helping participants with exercise planning, pain management, body balance, and posture correction.
The goal is to make exercise feel less like a gym commitment and more like an accessible part of everyday city life, particularly for office workers looking for an easy way to be active after leaving work.
The program will temporarily move to Ttukseom Hangang Park from June 5 to 7 in conjunction with the city’s Han River triathlon-style leisure festival, before returning to Seoul Plaza afterward.
Participation is free through advance reservation or same-day registration, with schedule updates, seasonal notices, and weather changes available on the official website at seoulsportsday.com.
