West Point hosts Mother’s Day Fitness Challenge

The challenge is expected to start with a warm-up, followed by a 20-25-minute group workout, then a one- to two-mile walk/jog/run. According to the event flyer, the workout will be a “bootcamp” workout. Patrick says that people can expect to see neighbors and community members motivating each other to get out and stay active throughout the event. “These guys are pretty skilled at what they do, so if anybody has any questions about fitness, meal planning or anything like that then they can ask [the Fit Crew] because this is what they do,” Patrick said. “There’s going to be a wealth of knowledge out there when it comes to that stuff. We want to put the people in front of those they need to talk to when it comes to fitness.”

Patrick believes that physical fitness is important for the community. His mantra when it comes to his approach to life and fitness is “The way you do one thing is how you do everything,” a saying that promotes giving maximum effort into any endeavor. He hopes that the Mother’s Day Fitness Challenge entices people to start embracing new, healthier habits. “If you start creating healthy habits in just one area of your life, I guarantee you it’s going to seep into other areas as well. It’s only going to get better for you,” Patrick said.

The Mother’s Day Fitness Challenge will start at the West Point River Park, located at 710 1st Ave., and will begin at 8:30 a.m. lasting until 11 a.m. The event is completely free and open to the public. To register for the event visit https://bit.ly/4wfPV5q.
