Trump caught out after Bryson DeChambeau fitness test lie - Golf - Sports

Bryson DeChambeau participated in multiple fitness challenges before Donald Trump at the White House, but the U.S. President exaggerated his performance on Truth Social.

DeChambeau attended the White House on Tuesday as Trump signed a presidential memorandum reinstating the Presidential Fitness Test in schools. The golfer was among several professional athletes supporting the fitness initiative and met with Trump in Washington.

The U.S. President shared footage from Tuesday’s White House event, marking the official reinstatement of the Presidential Fitness Test. Music played throughout the grounds as various groups engaged in physical activities.

In one video uploaded to Trump’s Truth Social account, DeChambeau was shown performing pull-ups on a bar set up in front of the White House.

“Amazing – Bryson doing 30 Pull Ups at the White House for the reinstatement of the Presidential Fitness Test! President DJT,” he posted.

However, the figure was incorrect, nearly doubling DeChambeau’s actual achievement. The LIV Golf star also struggled during the push-up challenge, losing his rhythm before 90 year old golf legend Gary Player. Player offered a strong endorsement of Trump at Tuesday’s event, delivering a pointed message to younger generations. “I say to the young people, ‘Just love this country because you don’t realize what’s going on around the world,’” Player said.

“There is a silent war taking place against America today, and what we’ve got to do is make these kids realize that freedom, exercise, and education start with reading some books. What you put in your body is so important.

“What a wonderful job [Trump] has done. And to all your Cabinet members, I say thank you for maintaining this great word – this cherished word: freedom.”

DeChambeau was equally supportive of Trump when he agreed to back the fitness test initiative last year. “We have an opportunity at being the 70th Anniversary of the President’s council on sports, fitness, and nutrition to literally change the fabric of kids’ lives,” he said.

“And our first initiative is to bring back and reignite the President’s fitness test and also re-establish some key other metrics on guidelines around building some communities and also, again with the President’s iniatives around college, we think we can help in that regard too.

“But we’ve got a great established council with us, that we believe we can change the fabric of our communities and kids’ livelihoods for the future generations that are to come.” Trump responded warmly to DeChambeau’s glowing remarks, going on to heap praise on his close friend. “He’s Bryson DeChambeau. He’s a great guy. He’s been my friend for a long time…,” Trump remarked, adding: “Bryson has always been a phenomenal ambassador to sports and to golf, but generally to life in my opinion. He’s a smart guy and a good guy, great guy. Loves our country.”
