Style’s beauty director at large, Sarah Jossel, has been with us since 2015, writing a weekly column in which she has interviewed the industry’s biggest names and tackled the nation’s skin, hair and make-up dilemmas. Now she’s put her knowledge into her debut book, Diary of a Beauty Editor (Little, Brown £20, out Thursday).
To celebrate, we hosted a dinner at Maza, Mayfair’s hottest new restaurant, in partnership with Space NK. Guests including AJ Odudu, Cath Kidston and Trinny Woodall were welcomed with tzatziki martinis before tucking into plates of spicy feta, tuna crudo with sun-dried ponzu and seabass fillets with salsa.
Ahead of the evening, guests were asked for their favourite beauty product and why. Picks ranged from a £4 Burt’s Bees lip balm (“cheap, cheerful and nonsticky”) to Augustinus Bader The Rich Cream (“It makes my skin look expensive”), with Sarah then inviting guests to go, um, “product swinging”, in search of something new. Cheers to that!
