Frugal Beauty Finds Under $50
As someone who uses the same password for everything, I’ve always been against keeping information exclusive. That’s why I’m excited to share my own collection of affordable beauty products that have made a real impact on my routine.
Contributing fashion editor Tamara Holland has been sharing her ‘frugal fashion editor’ edits for a while now, and it inspired me to do the same with beauty products. Whether it’s expensive or budget-friendly, if I find something amazing, I want to tell you about it — especially if it’s a great value.
Here are nine really great products under $50 that I’ve been loving lately.
OXX Cosmetics Luminous Powder Blush in Rose
Price: $6
I saw @sonia.dsouza.au’s review of this blush on Instagram and immediately drove to Kmart to buy it. While I’ve tried several OXX products, some have been hit or miss. This blush, however, is a winner. It looks exactly as it does in the pan — a pigmented pop of peony pink with a respectable amount of shimmer. It lasts all day too.
Dove Whole Body Deodorant Stick in Raspberry Rose
Price: $15.99
With the current humidity, my inner thighs have been suffering. But this deodorant stick has helped reduce chafing and irritation. The stick packaging makes it easy to apply to any chafe-prone areas without getting your hands dirty. Not only is it effective, but it also smells amazing.
Maybelline Lifter Plump & Glow Foundation
Price: $34.99
You don’t need to spend over $100 to get a quality foundation. This sheer-to-medium coverage foundation from Maybelline comes in 18 shades and delivers a naturally radiant finish. It works well on dry skin, providing hydration without looking flat.
FWEE 3D Voluming Gloss
Price: $25
Most lip glosses give me the ick — too thick, too sticky, too weird on my tongue. This one, however, is the best I’ve ever used. The jelly bean packaging caught my eye, but the gloss itself hooked me after the first swipe. It’s nourishing, highly pigmented, and gives a high-shine finish that makes my lips look fuller.
KMS ALLSMOOTH Anti-Frizz Serum
Price: $42
I bought this after both Kelly McCarren and Leigh Campbell recommended it on the You Beauty podcast. This spray hair oil is excellent for anti-humidity solutions. It disperses a fine mist of lightweight oil to add shine, smooth flyaways, and reduce frizz without weighing your hair down.
Naturium The Glow Getter Multi-Oil Body Wash
Price: $32
While I love the cult L’Occitane shower oil, this is a more affordable alternative. Using a few pumps in the shower leaves my skin feeling super soft and smells like fresh apples. My husband loves it too.
Jojoba Company Australian Jojoba
Price: $19.99
I used to use this years ago, but stopped when I started working at Alpha-H. After finishing my last Golden Haze bottle, I decided to revisit my old jojoba oil friend. It lacks the luxurious texture and spa-like scent of more expensive face oils, but it gets the job done and won’t break you out.
STRAAND The Crown Cleanse Prebiotic Shampoo
Price: $32
This is my fifth bottle! Nothing makes my scalp feel as fresh as this shampoo does. I use it as my first shampoo to help with itchiness and flakes. I’m also obsessed with the scent and how well it foams into a lush lather.
Revlon Illuminance Gloss Balm SPF 50+ in Cherry Whirl
Price: $27
I consider myself an expert in tinted lip balms. This one is a delight — it doesn’t have a funny taste, weird texture, or lack of pigment. I’m loving the cheeky cherry red, but it also comes in clear, frosty pink, berry, mocha, peach, and rose shades.
