BEAUFORT CO, Sc. (WTOC) – The Beaufort County School District is launching a new summer food program aimed at helping families keep children fed while school is out.
The “Groceries To-Go” program will provide free weekly grab-and-go breakfast and lunch meal kits for children ages 18 and younger from June 11 through July 27.
Families must reserve a ticket online for each child every week and present a QR code at pickup locations.
Meal kits will be distributed Thursdays from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. and Fridays from noon to 2 p.m.
Pickup locations include May River High School, Okatie Elementary School, St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church, St. Helena Elementary School, Whale Branch Middle School and other participating Beaufort County School District sites.
The district is also seeking volunteers to help with food portioning, bagging groceries, transporting supplies and loading vehicles during the program. Volunteer opportunities will run Thursdays and Fridays from June 11 through July 24.
