GREENVILLE, N.C. (WITN) – Planet Fitness is opening a second location in Greenville this summer.
Franchisee Excel Fitness signed a lease for a new club at 1400 Charles Boulevard in the Charles Boulevard Shopping Center. Harris Teeter most recently occupied the 20,000-square-foot space.
Construction of the new fitness center began back in April. The company says the gym will feature strength and cardio equipment, flat-screen televisions, a Black Card Spa, and free fitness training included with memberships.
“Our expansion in Greenville reflects both the strength of the community and the demand we’re seeing across the market,” said Jay Chambers, regional director of Excel Fitness. “Opening on Charles Boulevard allows us to reach members on the other side of Greenville who may not have convenient access to Winterville.
The existing Planet Fitness in Greenville is on Thomas Langston Road, closer to Winterville.
Excel Fitness also operates six other clubs across Eastern Carolina, serving Havelock, Jacksonville, Kinston, New Bern, and Washington.
