Sirio Pharma launches TGA-compliant gummy supplement concepts

The company is launching seven new gummy supplement concepts in Australia, after achieving TGA compliance. These concepts range from beauty-from-within to gut health, cardiovascular and metabolic health, immune and eye health.

Its cardiovascular and metabolic health gummy, for example, uses coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10) as the active ingredient. Each gummy contains 100mg of CoQ10 and comes with a daily suggested use of one to two gummies.

Its immune health gummy, on the other hand, is made with iodine and zinc, with each gummy containing 21µg of iodine and 1.35mg of zinc.

As for gut health, it has formulated 1bn CFU of Bacillus coagulans MTCC 5856 with 40mg of vitamin C per gummy.

The prototypes are available in flavors like peach, passionflower, strawberry and blueberry.

The Contract Development and Manufacturing Organization (CDMO) is launching this set of gummy concepts at this Thursday’s (May 21) Complementary Medicines Australia (CMA) Innovation Day in Sydney.

“Australia’s nutrition and health food market achieved high single-digit growth in 2025, and is projected to maintain this growth momentum through 2027, according to Euromonitor,” Even Zhang, Head of Product & Solution at Sirio APAC, told NutraIngredients on the reasons for targeting the Australian market.

Last year, Australia’s complementary medicine industry is forecast to reach AUD$6.3bn (US$4.5bn) in revenue and is projected to reach over AUD$7.4bn (US$5.3bn) by 2030.

While capsules and tablets still dominate, accounting for 61% of Australian respondents, gummies, powders, and personalized packs are gaining ground, with 21%, 18%, and 12% of respondents taking supplements in these forms, respectively, due to factors such as convenience and taste. This is based on findings from Euromonitor International’s Voice of the Consumer Health & Nutrition Survey 2025.

The launch also marks the company’s debut into Australia’s complementary medicine-grade gummies market. Previously, the company has manufactured food-grade gummies for Australian companies, but these products are not allowed to make therapeutic claims.

“Sirio’s TGA Gummies Family spans multiple high-growth health categories, including cardiovascular & metabolic health, beauty from within, gut health, and daily nutrition…Each variant is tailored to specific health benefits, from heart and eye support to immune and digestive wellness,” said Zhang.

From Australia to other markets

With Australian supplements popular among Chinese consumers and the wider Asia, the company also believes that its TGA-compliant gummies would gain traction with consumers beyond Australia.

“Australia serves as a strong export hub, with Australian-branded health products enjoying a wide market reach across China, Southeast Asia, and other Asia-Pacific markets,” said Jayne Schnitzerling, Senior Regional Sales Lead, ANZ.

Indeed, format innovation is a point of differentiation, especially for health supplements sold via e-commerce into China — also Australia’s biggest export market.

“Innovation in formats such as gummies, vegan and plant-based supplements, and beauty-linked products is closely tied to these digital retail channels, providing powerful cross-border pathways for Australian brands to reach Chinese consumers who increasingly value quality, authenticity and transparency,” according to CMA Industry Snapshot 2025,

Becoming TGA-compliant

To become TGA-compliant, which means complying with Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP), the company has adopted production equipment different from making conventional food gummies.

One example is the use of hard-mold casting to meet requirements for product cleanliness and contamination control.

“Production equipment for TGA-compliant gummies differs significantly from that used for traditional starch-molded gummies. Hard-mold pouring equipment requires precision temperature control to adapt to low-tack formulations, while custom molds with special surface treatment ensure high demolding rates without starch assistance,” said Lewis Liu, Head of R&D at Sirio APAC.

These gummies are made in Sirio Pharma’s TGA-certified factory in Ma’anshan, which also has TGA-certified production lines for producing complementary medicines in the form of gummies.

Liu added that complex multi-vitamin formulations may exacerbate production challenges, requiring specialized equipment and processes to avoid the gummies from sticking together and to ensure stable product quality.
