Hair and makeup settled somewhere between gimmicky and glamorous outside Hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc on Thursday night, where a star-studded lineup of attendees gathered for the annual amfAR Gala Cannes, presented by Chopard.
Bold eyes and bleached brows made a play for best beauty on the carpet, and avant-garde hair wasn’t far behind, with Lisa Rinna once again donning a bleached-blond wig à la Cruella de Vil and her fellow “Traitors” castmate Maura Higgins sporting a slicked ringlet down the center of her face.
Ahead, WWD breaks down the top statement-making moments, from Rinna to Higgins, Lizzo and more.

Clad in a spikey, rainbow-colored Germanier Couture gown, Lisa Rinna swapped her pixie for a bleached, bouffant wig by Johan Hellstrom on Thursday night’s red carpet. The hairpiece was similar to the one she donned at The Fashion Awards late last year, only this one had a bit more volume at the roots. She also kept her brows in their natural brown shade this time, opting against the barely there look. Under the brows, her eyes were hollowed in heavy black shadow, while her lips were dressed in a matte nude hue thanks to makeup artist Linda Hallberg.
Lizzo

While Rinna may have parked her layered pixie for the night, Lizzo took the textured cut for a test run. The 38-year-old singer, born Melissa Viviane Jefferson, paired her inky black hairpiece, courtesy of Keisha Moore, with a royal blue Robert Wun gown, styled by Patti Wilson. The high-glamour gown and conservative cut were juxtaposed with blond brows, teal eyeliner and bubblegum blush crafted by artist Sophia Sinot.

Zara Larsson’s ever-changing makeup aesthetic continued on Thursday with a melting pot of tropical hues pooling over her eyes and a brown-taupe liner accentuating the shape of her lips. Per usual, Larsson tapped her trusted collaborator, Sophia Sinot, to bring the glam to life. Meanwhile, her mermaid waves were fashioned by hairstylist Kristian Szalay.
Maura Higgins

Maura Higgins let one curly piece of hair hang out, while the rest of her chocolate brown bob was slicked in a bun behind her head. With the single coil swaying over her face, the back bun was kept busy with a flower adornment pinned by stylist Luke Pluckrose. Her makeup, expertly crafted by Suzy Clarke, was pared back in comparison, comprised of doll-like blush and doe eyes.
Maria Braz

Maria Braz took a page from the “Brat” handbook, lining her eyes heavily with black shadow. The Gothic look popped under her honey-blond brows and next to her naked lips. And yet, her hair harked back to Old Hollywood glamor, styled in a side part with soft waves.
