From late October to late April, all adults in the UK and Ireland are advised to take a vitamin D supplement of 10 micrograms every day.

During the winter months the sun is too far away at our latitude for us to be able to synthesise vitamin D from sunlight, and vitamin D is not available in many foods, so supplementing is necessary.

You can get vitamin D in tablet and spray form. If you choose a table, make sure to take it with or after a meal (as vitamin D is fat soluble so will be better absorbed this way). The spray can be used at any time.

Vitamin D is important for bone health, so supplementing is vital to maintain bone health long term.
