*Namaskar, Welcome to YogaPariwar!!*

*Today we will do Matsyasana. Matsya means fish. In Matsyasana, the body assumes the shape of a fish. This posture is dedicated to Matsya, the fish incarnation of the Hindu deity Lord Vishnu.*

* let’s start: Sit in padmasana. Lie flat on the floor with knees touching the floor like this.*

Arch the back by lifting the neck and the chest.
Take the head back and rest the top of the head on the floor.
Hold the big toes of the crossed legs with elbows touching the floor and stretch to increase the back arch.
Breathing is normal.
Remain in this position for 30 seconds.
Then come back to the normal position in reverse order.

*If you cannot sit in Padmasana, you can do Matsyasana with some variations of leg postures and palms resting on thighs like this:*

a) first is matsyasana by sitting in sukhasana.
b) second is matsyasana keeping legs straight on the ground.
c) third is matsyasana by bending the knees and keeping feet on the floor.

*You can also use a bolster as a support under your back like this:*

Benefits of Matsyasana
1)It stretches the throat, chest, abdomen and hips
2)energizes the neck
3)develops the thoracic cage to a well-shaped form
4)activates thyroids
5)relieves from asthma tonsillitis, cold and cough.

*Do Matsyasana 2-3 times every day as per your capacity and convenience. Dhanyawad.*
