The immune system / gut helps to protect us from pathogens, such as bacteria or viruses, when they enter the body.

White blood cells that make up the immune system scour the body’s tissues, looking to identify pathogens & destroy them (like a game of pac man).

When they identify a pathogen, the immune cells need to trigger inflammation & recruit more immune cells. The immune cells communicate via the release of small signalling molecules called CYTOKINES.

Once released, the cytokines trigger inflammation.
This is a physiological response by the body that aims to destroy the pathogen but it can become so strong & uncontrollable that it causes significant damage to one organ or THE ENTIRE BODY.

Some cytokines can also affect the blood vessels, causing a dramatic drop in blood pressure. This limits blood supply & starves the vital tissues & organs, including the heart, lungs, brain and kidneys, of oxygen & nutrients.

Studies are showing that in patients with Covid-19 they are under a deadly immune reaction – known as this ‘cytokine storm’. This cytokine storm is also a cause of autoimmune diseases too, which I know myself very well.

Good news is – WE CAN CALM THE STORM and that is by the power of good nutrition (anti-inflammatory food) and food that stimulates the production of glutathione in the liver as this also helps to put out the ‘cytokine storm’.

The most powerful vitamin your body needs is vitamin C. The more vitamin C you can get into your body, the less your chances of death from any cause.

Studies report that higher vitamin C intake resulted in fewer deaths from all causes, including deaths from coronary artery disease & cancer.

We also need to boost glutathione production in the liver.

Eat sulphur rich foods, high dose vitamin C, selenium rich foods like Brazil nuts,turmeric, avocados, goji berries, walnuts, almonds, also make sure you are exercising and sleeping well.
