In this snippet from my podcast this week with Mark Bell, (Fundamental Health, available on iTunes, YouTube, and carnivoremd.com) I discuss my concerns regarding lower vitamin D levels in connection with the lockdowns and quarantines. At this point the data is crystal clear: higher vitamin D levels correlate with better COVID outcomes and lower levels with worse outcomes. In case you haven’t heard me speak about this previously it’s important to point out that I don’t think this means we should be taking a vitamin D pill or that a vitamin D pill would have the same benefits as real UV light. Even for the majority of us who live at latitudes where we can’t get much UV light in the winter months I think this means we need to find a way to supplement UV LIGHT rather than just vitamin D (short tanning bed sessions, vitamin D lamps, etc). Check out the whole podcast for all of my thoughts about how we’ve been misled with regard to the harms of sun exposure and why we should NOT fear the sun if you are eating an animal based diet without vegetable oils in it!
