Sweden’s Coronavirus policy is really two separate issues. One is a triage issue and the other is the attempt to apply herd immunity solution to the problem. There are two issues that should not be confounded and both require resolution. First start with explaining why immediate palliative care without the option to go to the hospital is a problem and why everyone should have equal access to the opportunity of “survival”. Then I try to explain from a mathematical perspective the underlying assumptions to the herd immunity solution and why applying this solution to that problem is inappropriate. I hope Sweden can change both policies (triage/palliative care & attempting to use herd immunity as a solution to this pandemic).
