Dr. James Samuel, a regents’ professor at the Texas A&M College of Medicine, tells me about his lab’s important work with the international biotech company iBio Inc. They are testing two vaccine candidates in mice that could be mass produced quickly using modified tobacco plants.
I also visit with Dr. Gerald Parker, director of the Texas A&M Pandemic and Biosecurity Policy Program, and Dr. Peter Hotez, a Hagler Institute Scholar and vaccine researcher at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston. We discuss many of the latest COVID-19 developments and how policymakers can learn from this outbreak to respond better next time.
