Pvolve — an exercise franchise centered around functional fitness training — is opening a studio in Portland’s Slabtown neighborhood. The company hasn’t announced an opening date yet, but its website lists a studio at 1789 N.W. 21st Ave. as “coming soon.”

Permits filed earlier this month, as first reported by the Portland Business Journal, outline a $488,000 project that includes a studio, office, sales area and private training room.

Owner Rachel Katzman launched Pvolve in 2017, and the franchise now comprises more than 30 studios across the United States and Canada. The Portland location will be its first in Oregon, with another planned for Seattle.

The company centers around the Pvolve method, a low-impact, high-intensity functional fitness approach that uses resistance equipment to enhance mobility, stability and muscle tone. Actress Jennifer Aniston has often praised the method since hearing about Pvolve from a friend in 2021.

In 2023, the “Friends” star officially partnered with the company, where she joined a “team of experts providing guidance on product development, programming strategy and marketing efforts” for Pvolve.
