Improving the health of Arkansans is one of our top priorities, and encouraging SNAP recipients to use their benefits for healthier foods is an important step toward that goal. That’s why the Arkansas Department of Human Services will soon implement a new program to encourage healthier eating.
Under a new SNAP nutrition waiver that goes into effect on July 1, 2026, certain products such as soda, candy, and other unhealthy beverages can no longer be purchased in Arkansas with SNAP benefits.
If you or someone you know receives SNAP, this change will affect how benefits can be used. You can learn more about the program on this page, and you should also make sure you are signed up to receive important updates and information.
