Puppy Milk Replacer Recall Issued Over Vitamin D Risk

Dothan, Ala. (WDNews) — Certain puppy milk replacers have been recalled nationwide due to potentially dangerous levels of Vitamin D, according to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.

According to the FDA, Revival Animal Health voluntarily recalled Breeder’s Edge Foster Care Canine and Shelter’s Choice Canine milk replacers after testing revealed elevated Vitamin D levels that could harm puppies.

Health officials warn excessive Vitamin D can lead to serious kidney issues. Reported symptoms include vomiting, loss of appetite, increased thirst and urination, drooling, and weight loss.

The affected products were sold nationwide. Pet owners are urged to stop using the products immediately and return them for a refund.

Anyone whose pet shows symptoms after consuming the product should contact a veterinarian. Consumers with questions can contact Revival Animal Health at 1-877-870-4059 during business hours.
