“We wanted to create something where women feel safe and motivated,” Garden said. “A lot of people want to work out but don’t always feel comfortable going to the gym by themselves.”

Moore added that the club is about more than just fitness. “It’s also about building a community where women can uplift each other and grow together,” she said.

The organization is led by an executive board team that includes Makiyah Webb, Maya James and Ryan Dixon, who help coordinate events and manage club operations. Together, the team focuses on creating engaging activities that combine fitness with a positive social atmosphere.

EmpowHER hosted its first official event March 2, an R&B Women’s Fitness Night, which drew a strong turnout and positive feedback from attendees. The event blended music, group workouts and community building, setting the tone for what the club hopes to continue throughout the semester.

As the semester continues, EmpowHER plans to host more themed workout sessions and expand its reach across campus. With its early success, the organization is already becoming a growing presence in student life.

“Our goal is to keep growing and helping more women feel confident in themselves,” Garden said.

EmpowHER Women’s Fitness Club welcomes new members and encourages students to get involved as it continues to build a stronger, more inclusive fitness community on campus.
