Spotify Bulks Up With New Fitness Hub And Peloton Workouts.

Spotify is expanding beyond audio and video entertainment into fitness, introducing guided workout experiences as it looks to deepen user engagement and position itself as a broader daily wellness platform. As part of the push, Spotify has struck a partnership with Peloton that will give Premium subscribers in supported markets access to more than 1,400 ad-free, on-demand fitness classes.

The rollout adds a new fitness category within Spotify, bringing workout content into the same ecosystem as music, podcasts, audiobooks, and video. Both free and Premium users will have access to curated workout playlists and programming from wellness creators including “Yoga with Kassandra,” Chloe Ting, and “Pilates Body by Raven.”

The move builds on existing user behavior. Spotify says nearly 70% of its Premium subscribers already work out monthly on the platform, with more than 150 million fitness-focused playlists in use globally. Fitness content has also emerged as a leading use case for its newer playlist personalization tools.

“For nearly two decades, Spotify has been the soundtrack to the world’s workouts,” said Roman Wasenmüller, Global Head of Podcasts at Spotify. “Today, we are expanding Spotify to become a true daily wellness companion. By bringing Peloton directly into our video and audio ecosystem, we are investing in a future where Spotify isn’t just where you spend your time — it’s where you go to build momentum, improve your wellbeing, and get more out of every day.”

While it may be best known for its exercise equipment, Peloton has produced a deep catalog of content that has put it at the crossroads between fitness and entertainment. Many are produced by a roster of instructors who are already global icons, bringing with them a loyal community of millions. They will now be available on the Spotify app.

“We’ve always believed that the best workout is the one you actually do, which is why accessing world-class fitness content should be as easy as tuning into your favorite Spotify playlist,” said Peloton’s Chief Commercial Officer, Dion Camp Sanders. “With this partnership, we are instantly activating a global footprint that makes the magic of Peloton accessible to Spotify Premium subscribers anywhere.”

The content covers strength training, Pilates, barre, yoga, stretching, meditation, floor cardio, and outdoor running and walking classes. A curated collection of classes will be available within Spotify’s new Fitness category for Premium subscribers. And new content will be added to the experience regularly. The library includes English, Spanish and German language classes.

The move comes as Peloton faces challenges. After a COVID-boom evaporated when people went back to the gym, it has been looking for new ways to connect with consumers. The company says its new partnership with Spotify reinforces a shift toward a more diversified business model as well as meeting millions of consumers on a platform they already use and trust. It is also looking to grow in previously untapped international markets where Spotify operates, but Peloton doesn’t.
