Rock Co. board chair seeking persons interested in serving on nutrition committee

JANESVILLE, Wis. — Rock County Board Chair Kevin Leavy is seeking persons interested in serving on the Rock County ADRC Nutrition Advisory Committee.

The ADRC Nutrition Advisory Committee is intended to be a partner in improving the Nutrition Program.  Committee members can assist in developing and maintaining community partnerships and promoting activities including advertising and outreach to the community. ADRC Nutrition Advisory Committee members should have an interest in evaluating, promoting, planning, and advocating for the Nutrition Program and its senior participants.  

Committee members are expected to do the following: 

Make recommendations regarding the food preference of participants.Make recommendations regarding days and hours of site operations and locations.Make recommendations regarding site furnishings regarding persons with disabilities or handicaps. Give support and assistance to the ongoing development of the Nutrition Program.Represent and speak on behalf of nutrition participants and the program.As a liaison group, act as a communication clearinghouse between the Nutrition Program and the public.Promote advocacy.

The ADRC Nutrition Advisory Committee consists of members who represent the following groups:

Older Adults (60+)

Nutrition Program Participants

The remaining committee membership should provide for broad representation from public and private agencies that are knowledgeable and interested in the senior dining and home-delivered  meal programs.

The ADRC Nutrition Advisory Committee currently meets every other month on the third Wednesday of the odd months at 9 am.  Meetings are currently hybrid, with the in-person option being held at the Dr. Daniel Hale Williams Resource Center (DWRC-new Human Services Building) in Janesville.

Rock County residents are encouraged to submit their interest to serve as a community representative on the ADRC Nutrition Advisory Committee by 8am on Friday, May 15, 2026, through the newly created online portal on the Rock County website. The portal can be found at this link, or by clicking on “Residents” at the top of the County’s website and following the link to join a committee.
