SEATTLE — If you’re tired of the average gym experience with out-of-date machines and rooms flooded with fluorescent lighting, Henry’s Gymnasium might be for you. Henry’s Gymnasium is reshaping the average gym experience with high-end equipment, immersive art, and a strong commitment to community and inclusivity.
“It’s born to be something different. I’m really proud of what we do here. Everything from the decor, the lighting, the music,” said Glen Swain, owner of Henry’s Gymnasium. “Both of our locations were born to be part nightclub, part museum and part fitness. We want this to be a unique space for people because gyms typically are third places for people. You’ve got work, you’ve got home and you’ve got your gym.”
Their amenities include top-of-the-line gym equipment with a focus on recovery.
“Recovery for us would be things like infrared sauna, Finnish saunas, red light therapy, and salt therapy,” Swain said.
One of the most unique features of this place is their powerful art and inspirational quotes.
“All the murals are designed to reflect and celebrate the communities that we serve,” Swain said. “We have three beautiful murals of Stonewall. We want to pay homage to the sacrifices that those individuals made. It’s a very non-judgmental environment here, which really makes us unique.”
After working in the fitness world for 35 years, Swain is passionate about creating spaces where everyone feels welcome.
“I’m very, very passionate about creating unique spaces, but I’m even more passionate about just meeting people and helping people,” he said.
