Man convicted of sexually abuse of minor at Life Time Fitness – NBC Chicago

A Highland Park man has pled guilty to two felony charges after a 2024 incident at a popular suburban gym, where authorities say he sexually abused a minor.

Michael A. Tobin, 73, of Highland Park, was convicted in Cook County Circuit Court of criminal sexual abuse and aggravated battery on Feb. 17, 2026, the village of Northbrook announced Thursday.

According to officials, the incident took place July 6, 2024 at Life Time Fitness, at 1100 Skokie Blvd. in Northbrook. On April 23, 2026, Tobin was sentenced to 24 months of probation and mandatory registration as a sex offender for 10 years.

Village officials said an investigation began when the victim, a 15-year-old male, disclosed the abuse to his mother, who called 911. Northbrook police are asking anyone who believes they or a family member may have been abused by Tobin to contact either the Northbrook Police Department at (847) 564-2060 or their local law enforcement agency.
