The Hicksville Family Partnership Program successfully hosted a Wellness Expo on April 17 at Hicksville Middle School, welcoming student families for an evening dedicated to health, wellness and community connection.
Held from 5 to 8 p.m., the event brought together more than 80 community-based organizations, PTA units, donors, volunteers and community members, alongside Hicksville Board of Education trustees and district leadership. Families enjoyed a warm and inviting atmosphere complete with dinner, snacks and a wide range of engaging activities and valuable resources.
The gymnasium was transformed into a dynamic hub of wellness, with one side featuring a comprehensive health fair that included informational tables and essential healthcare resources. On the other side, families participated in fun-filled activities such as obstacle courses and car racing, creating an energetic and inclusive environment for all ages.
Throughout the building, attendees had access to a variety of hands-on experiences, including quick and easy hearing screenings, free dental check-ups and the opportunity to meet a therapy dog, bringing smiles and comfort to many. Participants also embraced movement and stress relief by “shaking it out” with a lively Zumba session, learning how dance can support overall well-being.
“The Wellness Expo is a wonderful example of what can happen when a community comes together with a shared commitment to supporting the whole child and family,” said Hicksville Family Partnership specialist Maritza Quintero, “We are grateful for the incredible turnout and the many partners who helped provide meaningful resources, interactive experiences, and a welcoming space for our families to connect and thrive.”
