“Beauty and Babes” supports families dealing with the loss of a child

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (Dakota News Now) – For years now, the Oaklyn Foundation has been supporting families dealing with the loss of an infant, and they rely on fundraisers and donations to help those families.

Its annual “Beauty and Babes” dinner is designed to do just that, helping raise funds to support families with whatever they may need.

Board member Kara Acevedo said the organization took last year off, but they’ve returned this year with their largest attendance yet.

“Supporting other moms that have lost [a child] is something that you don’t necessarily know that you’re going to do by having just a simple conversation. That support, making you feel less alone and making you feel encouraged by another mom who has gone through a similar journey and has struggled in ways that are really hard to talk about, is super impactful,” Acevedo said.

Funds raised from the event help the Oaklyn Foundation by expanding the organization to support even more families.
