The Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program is now accepting applications from seniors in Pierce County — an effort to offer a simple way for older adults to bring more fresh, local food to the table.
Eligible residents must be age 60 or older (or 55-plus for American Indian or Alaska Native people) and have a monthly income of no more than $2,461 for one person or $3,337 for two people.
Qualified participants will receive an electronic benefits card loaded with $80 to spend on locally grown fruits, vegetables, herbs, and honey at participating farmers markets and farm stores throughout the county.
Participants can apply online or by calling the County’s Aging and Disability Resource Center at (253) 798-4600.
