Nicole Kidman and daughter Sunday Rose shared their first Met Gala together last night, and stole the red carpet with their sweet spin on mini-me beauty. While the outfits couldn’t have been different – Nicole in vampy crimson, Sunday Rose in soft florals – the pair shared a ‘hiding in plain sight’ connection, via their hair.

The mother and daughter duo looked incredible
Facing the world at what is arguably the most judgey event in the showbiz calendar isn’t easy at any age, but for 17-year-old Sunday Rose it must have been especially daunting. Thankfully, mum Nicole, 58, was on hand with an extra hand-squeeze built into their hairstyles.
Celebrity hairstylist Adir Abergel created the looks for both women, and explains that there’s a hidden meaning built into the mum and daughter styles. ‘For Nicole and Sunday’s first Met Gala together, I wanted to create a meaningful connection for this special moment,’ Adir explains.

The pair had matching long locks
‘Hair became a subtle yet beautiful unifying thread, tying their looks together through a shared expression of modern elegance.’
A key connection was in their fringes, a recently added element to Nicole’s beauty look and one that’s become synonymous with her post-divorce reinvention.
‘A subtle detail I love is how the bangs were shaped,’ explains Adir. ‘I used the Shark Beauty FlexStyle Air Styling & Drying System to work with air instead of tension, creating that effortless sweep – polished and luminous.’

Both women opted for hair extensions, with Nicole opting for ultra-long blonde pieces that skimmed her backside. She was matched by Sunday Rose, who echoed her mother’s new lengths as a darker, carbon copy version. ‘I added ultra-long 60 cm extensions from BHBD in shades 5NG/6NG, for the perfect match and to achieve the desired length,’ reveals Adir.

Ultra long extensions were used to create the look
While their outfits themselves were strikingly different – one vampy crimson, one soft floral – both dresses were both used as a starting point to inspire the hair looks.
For Nicole, Adir took inspiration from ‘the striking lines and reflective shine’ of her dress, ‘crafting a hairstyle that echoed the same sense of light and movement’. He adds, ‘The look channels an effortless French-girl je ne sais quoi, balancing polish with an air of ease.’
Sunday Rose’s hair was chosen to echo the floral blooms woven into her outfit, with Adir choosing a hairstyle ‘rooted in strength and femininity. We played with length and the health of the hair to evoke a sense of youthful, effortless playfulness,’ he explains.
Another unifying touch came via Adir’s chosen finishing product: Virtue’s Healing Oil, used for both women to seal in a polished finish. For Nicole, ‘I warmed a few drops of Virtue’s Healing Oil between my hands, gently tilted her head, and smoothed it through her long, golden locks for an added veil of luster and shine,’ Adir explains.
