Cher famously sang about turning back time, and it seems like her wish came true at this year’s Met Gala. The superstar looked incredibly youthful at 79, thanks in no small part to a new ‘facelift in a jar’ supercream that promises to wind back the clock in just 28 seconds.
The iconic singer wore a sexy black leather and lace ensemble that could have been straight from her late 80s rock era, and the same could be said for her face. Cher has, of course, been open about having various cosmetic procedures over the years, but her Met Gala makeup certainly made the most of her preternaturally smooth skin.

A backstage peek reveals that Cher’s glam began with Charlotte Tilbury Magic Cream, a long-standing icon that’s just undergone a huge refresh. Makeup artist Francesca Tolot prepped Cher’s complexion with this red carpet favourite, which was recently reformulated by Tilbury with peptides to give an instant glow-boosting effect that ‘revives 28 seconds flat’.

An impressive four out of five testers agreed the new version was ‘like a facelift in a jar’, so no wonder it was everywhere at the Met Gala, with everyone from Emily Blunt to Charlotte Tilbury herself wearing it.

Cher’s ageless complexion was complemented with some under-eye prep courtesy of Charlotte’s Hollywood Skin Secrets Immediate Eye Revival Patches. These stick-on patches promise to brighten dark circles and instantly tighten skin for a ‘snatched effect’.

Cher’s lip and eye makeup also dipped generously into Charlotte Tilbury’s latest offerings, which combine glamorous colour with skin-nourishing extras.

A closer look at Cher’s Met makeup look
Her eyes were enhanced with the soon-to-launch Exagger-Eyes Easy Eyeshadow Stick, with the Chestnut Sculpt shade doing exactly what the name suggests. As well as gripping to skin as tightly as a nervous plus-one, the eyeshadows are infused with conditioning vitamin E, ‘so it never feels drying on the lids’ says Charlotte.
Cher’s lips were given an extra touch of plumped up glamour with Pillow Talk Blush Balm Lip Tint, a new adaptive lip formula which adjusts its final colour according to the heat and pH of each person’s skin. Think of it as a mood ring for lips, basically.

The GH beauty team, of course, have been gushing over the look – and we’re certainly not alone. Fans were quick to flock to Instagram to praise Cher’s glam too. ‘Cher looks amazing as always,’ commented one, while another fan read our minds: ‘Such a magical Met moment, the whole night looked absolutely dazzling, so does Cher!!!’
Safe to say, our Charlotte Tilbury wish list is piling up.
