Parliament’s ethics committee has recommended lifting the immunity of Kyriakos Velopoulos, leader of the far-right Greek Solution party. The move follows allegations of persistent public insult and defamation linked to his conduct throughout 2025.
The committee’s recommendation was reportedly unanimous – a course of action Velopoulos himself is said to have requested. The case originated from a lawsuit filed by a candidate of the Voice of Reason party.
The plenary is expected to hold a final vote next week to determine whether the prosecution may proceed.
