The Painesville-based CROSS Outreach Ministry is planning a free event on racial trauma, healing, recovery and wellness as part of Mental Health Awareness Month.
The event will run from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on May 21 at Ana’s Attic, 58 South Park Place in Painesville.
A news release said that John Flowers of Cleveland’s Black Mental Health Corp. will present “Racial Trauma: Learn the Signs and How to Recover.” There will also be a question-and-answer period.
“This event is about creating a safe and honest space for education, conversation and healing,” said Rev. Brian Jones, CROSS founder and program curator, in a news release. “Mental health awareness must include the lived experiences of people who have been impacted by racial bias, discrimination and unequal access to culturally sensitive care.”
CROSS describes itself as “a Christ-centered nonprofit serving Greater Painesville with love and compassion, putting others first to empower at-risk and underserved neighbors through health, wellness and social-care support.”
