WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Ahead of Mother’s Day, the City of Wilmington, in partnership with AARP, spent the day helping residents focus on staying active and healthy.
At the Davis Center, the “Active Adults Health and Wellness Fair” offered weight checks, strength tests, and even boxing demonstrations.
The event gave residents a chance to learn more about maintaining an active lifestyle and connecting with local health resources.
Programming Coordinator Monica Sizemore says the fair is designed to connect older residents with community services.
“We actually have a large senior population in this community. We do offer several programs here at the Davis Center, but it became apparent that there are resources that a lot of people are unaware of,” said Sizemore.
Sizemore says the next big fair at the Davis Center will be in October, when it hosts its annual “Fall Fest.”
