This year’s Met Gala dress code, “Fashion Is Art,” merged the worlds of couture and canvas, and the beauty looks followed suit. Makeup took on a painterly aesthetic, with stars turning their faces into the ultimate medium for the night’s biggest beauty trend: watercolor blush.
Skin moonlighted as the paper, and pigment the paint, with sheer washes swept across the cheeks in diffused, watercolor-esque layers. Celebrity beauty muses like Beyoncé and Gigi Hadid leaned into the look, with soft, flushed-from-within finishes. Veils of color created an elevated, high-fashion take on the skinimalist, clean girl glam that’s been dominating as of late, resulting in beats that felt like living portraits.
Ahead, all the best watercolor blush beauty moments from this year’s Met Gala carpet.
