TANNERSVILLE, MONROE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — A new non-profit founded by a Monroe County mother is taking aim at youth wellness using sports to help kids before they reach a crisis point. The Heallist Foundation is launching its first local initiative in the Poconos.
It will partner with local wrestling programs and community spaces to help children develop mentally and emotionally, not just physically.
Neighbors question data center plan
Organizers say too many working families struggle to access support for their children, despite not qualifying for traditional assistance programs
“I think that a lot of these programs are out of reach for children, parents working, or parents not having the money to support them. A big part of this foundation is raising money to make these programs available to kids that might not otherwise be able to afford them,” Heallist Foundation Founder and Chairman Christine Carey said.
The first kickoff is Camp of Champs on June 27 and June 28 at Northampton Community College.
