YORK, Pa. — A new vending machine in York is providing free health and wellness products to community members.
The vending machine, outside the Loretta Claiborne Building on South George Street, contains basic health items like wound care kits and hygiene products in addition to Narcan, Sharps containers and safe sex kits.
It comes through a partnership between the Penn State College of Medicine, WellSpan Health and Friends & Neighbors of Pennsylvania.
Organizers say the machine is part of a growing project around the region.
“(We have) two vending machines on the ground for two years, but recently, we put in two more in the area, one in Millersburg and one in York. So, it’s really exciting to see this project grow and expand and to see a lot more communities be interested in these health vending machines,” said Dr. Alice Zhang, with Penn State College of Medicine.
The organizers hope that making essential supplies more accessible to the community will make a big difference in people’s lives, especially those from underserved populations.
