Carrie Maxwell Joins HPU Women's Soccer as Assistant Coach/Nutrition Specialist

HIGH POINT, N.C. — High Point University Women’s Soccer Head Coach Aaron McGuiness announced the addition of Carrie Maxwell to his staff on Wednesday afternoon. Maxwell will serve as an assistant coach and nutrition specialist for the Panthers.
 
“We are excited to add Carrie to our staff,” McGuiness said. “She brings experience, as a player and coach, that I believe complements our staff well, and can positively impact the development of our players and the success of the program.”
 
Maxwell is a former collegiate and professional player/coach with a high-level soccer background and a whole-athlete approach to development.
 
“Thank you Coach Aaron for bringing me on staff,” Maxwell said. “I am thankful for the opportunity to work with such great people and athletes on a beautiful campus. “I am excited to get started as a Panther!”
 
Maxwell has coached at both the Division I and II levels, including at UNC Charlotte and Lenoir-Rhyne University.  She helped lead the Bears to their best finish in program history with a Southeast Regional Championship and an NCAA Division II Final Four appearance ending the season ranked No. 4 nationally. The team featured one All-American, an Academic All-American, and seven South Atlantic Conference All-Tournament players. In her first year at Lenoir-Rhyne, she helped the Bears reach a No. 13 ranking in Division II and a 9-1-1 record. The team won the 2020-21 South Atlantic Tournament Championship with an overtime win over Queens University and placed five players on the All-Conference Team.
 
Prior to joining Lenoir-Rhyne, Carrie served as an assistant coach with the Charlotte Eagles Women’s Premier Soccer League (WPSL) team. In 2019, the Lady Eagles won the conference title and reached the Regional Final of the National WPSL Tournament. For the past nine years, she has been involved in coaching with the US Youth Soccer Olympic Development Program as well as club coaching in the greater Charlotte area. From 2016-19, she served as the head coach for Hickory Ridge High School and was named the Conference and Regional Coach of the Year in 2019.
 
Maxwell is a Charlotte alum who played for the Charlotte 49ers from 2009-12. She tallied 11 goals in her career as a defender for the Niners, netting six of them during her senior campaign. She served as a team captain and was a member of the Student Athlete Advisory Committee during her tenure and is tied for 10th on Charlotte’s all-time games played list with 84 appearances. After graduating in 2013, she played professionally in Sweden with Tierps IF and also spent time playing for the Carolina Rapids and Charlotte Eagles in the WPSL.
 
In 2022, she founded Maxwell Performance LLC, providing a holistic approach to athlete development focused on performance, recovery, and nutrition. Maxwell holds multiple certifications, including NASM Certified Personal Trainer and Sports Nutrition Coach.  She is a 500-hour Yoga Alliance Registered Yoga Teacher through the lineage of her teacher, Johnna Smith.  She holds a USSF C License and is currently pursuing her USSF B License.
