A diet rich in plant foods is most beneficial for body weight for women during menopause, according to a new analysis of nearly 40,000 women. Using data that assessed diet every four years during a 12-year period surrounding menopause, the combined findings of several diet indexes found that nuts, legumes, fruits, vegetables, and whole grains were associated with optimized weight management, while processed meats, and foods high in fat and sodium caused weight gain.1
