Evansville youth home celebrates grand opening of wellness facility

EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) – The United Methodist Youth Home in Evansville celebrated the grand opening of a brand-new Health and Wellness building on Saturday.

Officials say the new facility will provide critical wrap-around care for at-risk youth.

The grand opening kicked off at 2 p.m. and featured food trucks, campus tours and a ribbon-cutting ceremony.

They also provided an exclusive look inside the new Wellness Center named after one of their longtime donors, Diane Schroeder.

The building includes a workout room and an outdoor meditation garden.

“I think it’s going to be great, all of our youth that are currently on campus are super excited, they’ve been asking me for weeks, ‘When is it open? When is it open?’ So, I think it’s going to be a great impact on our youth,” said UMYH Development Assistant, Regan Merrill.

Leaders say the goal of this expansion is to provide complete care on campus, addressing the mental, emotional, and physical health of every child all under one roof.
