LEXINGTON, S.C. (WIS/Gray News) – South Carolina authorities say the cause of death of a personal trainer whose body was found earlier this month remains under investigation.
Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher said an autopsy was performed on Elena Katherine Moore over the weekend. However, it did not yield an immediate cause of death for the 39-year-old.
Officials did note that the examination of her body revealed no evidence of traumatic injury, including no bruising, lacerations, gunshot wounds, stab wounds, blunt force trauma, strangulation, or other external injuries.

According to the coroner, continued evaluation is required, including histological studies, review of medical records and toxicology testing.
Lexington authorities said Moore’s body was located near Old Cherokee Road and Northlake Drive after she was reported missing by her husband. One of the places she was last seen leaving was from a Lexington-area Planet Fitness the day prior.
Moore was reportedly seen walking away from that Planet Fitness toward a wooded area behind Lowe’s Home Improvement. She was wearing an olive green zip-up hoodie with black athletic pants.
A photo appearing to show Moore at Planet Fitness was later released by police.
Lexington Police Chief Terrence Green said the clothing description of the missing 39-year-old matched that of what was found on the body, with Moore being positively identified by the coroner.
Lexington investigator Missy Silcox said during the initial investigation that police did not suspect foul play in Moore’s disappearance.
