Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts has announced it is offering a complimentary $15 Bluebikes credit during National Wellness Month to promote outdoor activity in Metro Boston.
According to a Patch of Salem report, riders can redeem a $15 credit by entering the code BCBSMAWELLNESS in the Bluebikes app, while supplies last. The $15 credit can be used for any combination of rides across the Bluebikes system, either all at once or across multiple rides, including standard bikes and e-bikes.
Once redeemed, the credit will be added to a rider’s account and remain valid for 12 months from the time it is redeemed, according to the announcement.
Bluebikes includes more than 5,500 bikes and 600 stations across 13 municipalities. These communities are Arlington, Boston, Brookline, Cambridge, Chelsea, Everett, Malden, Medford, Newton, Revere, Salem, Somerville, and Watertown.
According to the announcement, since 2018, funding from Blue Cross has supported initiatives like free rides and reduced-cost passes, contributing to more than 25 million Bluebikes rides overall.
“At Blue Cross, we believe access to simple, convenient ways to be active can make a meaningful difference in people’s health and well-being,” said Jeff Bellows, vice president of corporate citizenship and public affairs at Blue Cross, in a statement shared with the Patch. “We’re proud to encourage our communities to get outside, stay active, and experience the physical and mental health benefits of biking.”
