Planet Fitness plans to open a fitness center in Woodbury in September at 1505 Queens Drive, Suite 117. The space previously housed Party City.
The new Planet Fitness will be in the same strip mall that formerly housed Xperience Fitness, which closed in November 2024. A PGA TOUR Superstore later replaced Xperience Fitness.
“We are excited to bring Planet Fitness to Woodbury and provide the community with a welcoming, judgment-free place to focus on health and wellness,” Will Delaney, with Baseline, a Planet Fitness franchise division, stated in an email to Woodbury News Net.
Planet Fitness operates locations in the Sun Ray Shopping Center in St. Paul, as well as in Cottage Grove, Hudson and Stillwater.
“As our first location in Woodbury, we are proud to expand our presence in the Twin Cities area and can’t wait to join this growing community when we open this year,” Delaney added.
An exact opening date and hours of operation will be announced later. Delaney expects 20 people will be hired to staff the fitness center.
Planet Fitness has more than 21 million members and more than 2,900 clubs in all 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, Canada, Panama, Mexico, Australia and Spain.
The company focuses on fostering a nonintimidating environment it calls the “Judgment Free Zone.” About 90% of Planet Fitness clubs are owned and operated by independent business owners, as will be the case for the Woodbury location.
