Danica Patrick is living it up on vacation this summer, but the 45-year-old former NASCAR and IndyCar driver isn’t letting her fitness suffer.
The former racing star, who retired from full-time competition in 2018, has stayed very active in retirement. Patrick has been doing a lot of weight lifting, cardio, golf, tennis, skiing and more.
“I looooove making up workouts. Kinda like I love putting an outfit together for dinner just as much as I like going to dinner. I like the creativity about it. The balance, the flow. This was a compound movement workout inspired by @tanyapoppett. I saw her do a workout with pillows and thought, ya, props! So here it is- . 15 rounds- 10 Butt kickers 10 high knees 10 jumping jacks 10 wacky jacks 15 rounds- 4 alt side lunge 4 alt jumping lunge 4 alt step ups 15 rounds- 1 wall walk 2 hand release push up 3 supermans 15 rounds- 3 way – 2 pillow stack 4 strait leg sit ups Took about 33min,” she shared on social media toward the end of her career.
Patrick has still been getting after it, too.
She showed off a post-workout photo from Greece on Instagram on Thursday afternoon, August 13.
“Santorini is stunning…. Probably the most beautiful elevated hotel view I have ever seen! 😍,” she shared.
“We hiked (I mean climbed) questionable mountains, ate the best food of the trip, learned about Greek wine, discovered Greek cats do love feta (and we fed them a lot), and decided from now on… packing light in Europe due to hills is very smart. 🥴 oh, and Stew is fascinated with fancy food but will only eat steak and potatoes. 😂
Patrick has made it clear that she wants to live an “intense” life.
“Intensity is a principle that has guided and informed me throughout every aspect of my life. Living a Pretty Intense life means living to the fullest, body and mind, every single day. I try to do everything with intensity — meaning without distraction, without self-focused doubt or fear, without the need to seek approval from others. The first part of this book was designed to help you capture that mindset, to bring your dreams and aspirations into focus and help you carve a path toward realizing them. Bring that intensity to your career, your relationships, your hobbies, your entire life. The perspectives and tools you discovered in the first few chapters will help you become stronger above your shoulders,” she says in her book, Pretty Intense: The 90-Day Mind, Body and Food Plan That Will Absolutely Change Your Life.
Clearly, Patrick is still living by that motto.
