The reason I always prefer to take a natural vitamin C like those from acerola cherry, kacadoo plum or kamu camu powder is unlike the synthetic forms which a lot of the time are made from GMO corn, natural vitamin C are looking to wild fruits that are rich in vitamin C, rich in antioxidants and they’re also at lower doses which I prefer and always recommend because high doses of vitamin C unless I’m taking it for a short period of time like when I have a cold or I feel a flu coming on can potentially cause mineral imbalances in our body like throwing out our copper levels. So, I always prefer vitamin C supplements at a lower dose at around 100 mg per capsule or per serve, which is closer to how we naturally get our vitamin C through food. One full orange has about 70 mg of vitamin C. So, to me, it doesn’t make sense when these synthetic forms of C can have upwards of 800 mg to 1,000 mg per serve. You would have to eat something like 14 to 15 oranges. To me, that just doesn’t make sense unless it’s for a short period of time, like when you feel a cold coming on and you’re looking for that extra immune boost. But for general use, 100 mg is my go-to.
