Dr. Beenfeldt explains what herd immunity is and why it’s important. Renown is proud to have administered more than 80,000 dose one and dose two vaccinations, but has concluded scheduling vaccinations. Our team is honored to have been a part of vaccinating our community. We support our healthcare colleagues who are continuing to provide vaccines, and encourage you to find a vaccination site near you at vaccines.gov/search.

I think it’s very important to get the vaccine. For the main reason being that, in order to really combat this pandemic in full force, we need the majority of the people, over 80%, to have been vaccinated. And it confers what it’s called herd immunity, and what that means basically is that there are enough people vaccinated that the virus is no longer endemic across the system. And that people have less ability to both spread it and contract it.
