– Hi everybody. Dr. Jodi Kinney. So we’re doing a little bit
of some videos on supplements. Some of my favorite supplements, some of the supplements I take every day. This one’s especially for women. If you’re over the age of 35, you’re losing your calcium,
you’re getting bone loss, you’re getting loss of
collagen and muscle loss. Some of the best supplements
that you can take are calcium and vitamin D. So calcium, as we all know,
helps with building bone. You need calcium. We start to lose all our bone
over the age of like 35 to 40, which gives rise to
things like osteoporosis, brittle bones. This is where we get bone fractures, hip fractures, things like that. You have to supplement with calcium. We don’t get a lot of it in our food. Even if people say, “Oh, I drink milk or take a yogurt every day,” there isn’t a good
sufficient amount of calcium in those food products. We have to supplement. You can’t get calcium into
your bones without vitamin D. If you are not getting enough vitamin D, you will not be able to
absorb calcium in your bones. So vitamin D is essential
to get calcium into the bone so you don’t get bone loss. Vitamin D has also been shown to help with boosting your immune system. Vitamin D has been shown to
help with boosting things like seasonal affective
disorder or sadness, early depression, right. Helps to boost your mood. There are even links with vitamin D and things like cardiovascular, improving cardiovascular
health, even diabetes. So you must, everyone must
supplement with vitamin D, male or female. This is the other reason why. A good source of vitamin D is the sun and that’s wonderful for about
six months out of the year in the state of New Jersey. Those other six months of the
year, when it gets to winter, the angle of the rays of the sun don’t penetrate our atmosphere and we don’t absorb it. So we only really get
vitamin D from the sun about six months out of the year. So you must, must supplement
with vitamin D in your life in order to maintain healthy bone, healthy immune system function, and overall better mood. So come in and get
